Privacy Policy

Last updated August 13, 2026

Lion Market is a local marketplace for trading-card collectors, available on the web and as an iPhone app. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the controls you have. We do not sell your data. We do not run third-party advertising. We do not share your information with data brokers.

What we collect

  • Phone number — used for OTP sign-in and account recovery. We deliver login codes through Twilio Verify; product notifications use native push, not SMS.
  • Account profile — your handle, optional profile photo, and the saved area (city/ZIP) you trade in.
  • Approximate location — used to show nearby listings and to draw the public “neighborhood” badge on your own listings. Other users see a jittered ZIP-centroid, never your exact coordinates.
  • Photos and videos you choose to upload for listings, your profile, or venue media.
  • User-generated content — listings, chat messages, reviews, support feedback, and messages you send to the Lion AI assistant.
  • Diagnostic data — app crashes and error reports, redacted of personally identifiable information.

What we don’t collect

  • No advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking.
  • No web tracking pixels from advertising networks.
  • No microphone or camera access without your explicit tap.
  • No background location. Location is only requested when you tap “Use current location” while choosing your area.

How we use it

We use your data to operate the marketplace: authenticate you, show listings near you, send messages between buyers and sellers, deliver SMS reminders for confirmed meetups, and answer questions through the Lion assistant. We do not use your messages or listings to train models for unrelated products.

Lion AI assistant

The Lion assistant generates responses by sending the relevant portion of your conversation to Google(Gemini, via the Google Generative AI API). Google processes the text to generate a reply and handles it under their terms; Lion Market does not grant Google any rights to use your messages for training their own models. We send only what’s needed to answer the current question — typically the listing being discussed and the recent messages in the thread — and never attach your phone number, address, or other identifiers. You can avoid Lion entirely by messaging sellers directly once they reply in a thread.

Location privacy

Buyers and the public never see a seller’s exact coordinates. Listing maps render a deterministic jitter (≥0.5 mile) keyed on the listing id, so the same row always resolves to the same approximate spot but the true point cannot be recovered. Distance is rounded to 0.1 mile. The seller is the only viewer who ever sees their own raw coordinates.

Sharing

We share data only with vendors required to run the service: Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), Twilio (SMS delivery), Google (the Gemini LLM that powers Lion replies), and Apple’s Push Notification Service (in-app alerts). Each receives only what they need to do their job. We do not share data with advertisers, brokers, or any party that would resell it.

Your controls

  • Delete your account from inside the iOS app: Account → Delete account. The action removes your handle, profile photo, saved location, and listings from public view, and signs you out everywhere.
  • Block another user from any chat thread. Their content is hidden from your feeds.
  • Report content (listings, messages, users) from the relevant ⋯ menu. We aim to review reports within 24 hours and act on policy violations.
  • Contact us at the support email below for any other request.

Children

Lion Market is not directed at children under 13 — under 14 for residents of Quebec — and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Canadian residents

If you are in Canada, we handle your personal information under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy law, including Quebec’s Law 25. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual limits, by deleting your account or contacting us.

Your information is stored and processed outside Canada. Our servers, database, and the service providers described above are located primarily in the United States, and your personal information is transferred there. While it is outside Canada it is subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access requests by foreign courts and government authorities. We require our providers to protect it under contract, but we cannot override those laws.

You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to stop using or disclosing it, or to transfer it in a structured, commonly used format. Quebec residents may also request de-indexing. We respond within the time limits set by applicable law. Contact our privacy officer at privacy@lionmarket.app. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, to the Commission d’accès à l’information.

Changes

We will update the “Last updated” date above when this policy materially changes. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
