Lion Market is a local marketplace for trading-card collectors, available on the web and as an iPhone app. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the controls you have. We do not sell your data. We do not run third-party advertising. We do not share your information with data brokers.
We use your data to operate the marketplace: authenticate you, show listings near you, send messages between buyers and sellers, deliver SMS reminders for confirmed meetups, and answer questions through the Lion assistant. We do not use your messages or listings to train models for unrelated products.
The Lion assistant generates responses by sending the relevant portion of your conversation to Google(Gemini, via the Google Generative AI API). Google processes the text to generate a reply and handles it under their terms; Lion Market does not grant Google any rights to use your messages for training their own models. We send only what’s needed to answer the current question — typically the listing being discussed and the recent messages in the thread — and never attach your phone number, address, or other identifiers. You can avoid Lion entirely by messaging sellers directly once they reply in a thread.
Buyers and the public never see a seller’s exact coordinates. Listing maps render a deterministic jitter (≥0.5 mile) keyed on the listing id, so the same row always resolves to the same approximate spot but the true point cannot be recovered. Distance is rounded to 0.1 mile. The seller is the only viewer who ever sees their own raw coordinates.
We share data only with vendors required to run the service: Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), Twilio (SMS delivery), Google (the Gemini LLM that powers Lion replies), and Apple’s Push Notification Service (in-app alerts). Each receives only what they need to do their job. We do not share data with advertisers, brokers, or any party that would resell it.
Lion Market is not directed at children under 13 — under 14 for residents of Quebec — and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
If you are in Canada, we handle your personal information under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy law, including Quebec’s Law 25. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual limits, by deleting your account or contacting us.
Your information is stored and processed outside Canada. Our servers, database, and the service providers described above are located primarily in the United States, and your personal information is transferred there. While it is outside Canada it is subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access requests by foreign courts and government authorities. We require our providers to protect it under contract, but we cannot override those laws.
You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to stop using or disclosing it, or to transfer it in a structured, commonly used format. Quebec residents may also request de-indexing. We respond within the time limits set by applicable law. Contact our privacy officer at privacy@lionmarket.app. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, to the Commission d’accès à l’information.
We will update the “Last updated” date above when this policy materially changes. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
