This card is highly likely to drop rather than go up. Right now, near-mint copies are sitting at a report-day price of $375. Since the set just released yesterday, you are looking at a massive new-release tax. My best estimate for the 3-month target is a drop to $225, with a likely range between $180 and $300. The 1-year longer-range estimate sees it falling further to around $185. We expect this downward gravity because early supply is low, but more packs will be opened soon. In fact, Build and Battle Kits launch on July 31, which will push even more copies into circulation. We already saw this exact pullback with the Japanese counterpart, which dropped from $1,200 to $550 in its first six weeks. Right now, the set is so new that there is not enough history to judge how easily the card sells. If you just want Mega Darkrai ex for your binder, you have much cheaper choices, like a $12 Double Rare or a $28 Ultra Rare in the same set. Hold off on buying this Special Illustration Rare at $375 until the late-July Build and Battle Kits add more supply and pull the price closer to that $225 target.
ME05: Pitch Black just released yesterday, and Mega Darkrai ex recorded a $375 report-day price. When a set releases, early sales can include a new-release tax. Over the next three months, if more packs are opened and owners list copies, gravity could pull those prices lower. More packs will also arrive soon, as Build and Battle Kits for the set are scheduled to launch on July 31, 2026. We can see this exact pattern in its Japanese counterpart from M5: Abyss Eye. That Japanese version launched in late May, and its recorded raw near-mint sales dropped from around $1,200 down to roughly $550 by early July. The English version faces those same price risks if new copies give collectors more choices. Furthermore, collectors who just want the character have cheaper options. The set includes a Double Rare version for about $12 and an Ultra Rare for $28, which gives a cheaper alternative to this $375 copy.

Day 1 prices can be unstable. If more packs are opened over the next month, the added copies could give collectors more choices, which may pull prices down.
The Japanese printing dropped by more than 50% in its first six weeks. The English card could face similar drops as it ages.
Build and Battle Kits for this set are scheduled to release on July 31, 2026, which can create more copies of this card.
